Asana: Your Physical Practice

In exploration of asana (our physical practice experienced through yoga postures/poses), we are able to invite the advantages of proper alignment and depth to engagement into the practice.  Within the member portal, you have access to a library of asanas/postures that have been broken down with alignment and engagement aspects highlighted for the learning yogi in us all.

Triangle  /  Trikonasana

  • Triangle pose is an open-hip, standing posture
  • Press into the ball of the foot on the front leg to activate
  • The toes on the back foot angle to face the long edge of the mat
  • With an open chest, the shoulders stack and will remain on the same plane as one another as well as on the same plane as the hips
  • The top fingertips reach actively skyward.  The core engages intensely to allow this sensation to occur.
  • The bottom hand rests weightlessly on the inner thigh or shin, or the hand settles on a block (still engaging to reach skyward).  If you are surrendering weight into the bottom hand, come up taller to re-activate the posture.
  • Gaze wherever is most comfortable
