SHADOW-WORK:Embracing the Dark Side of the SelF
Course Dates: September 16 & 17, 2023
C. G. Jung established the term “Shadow” to refer to the personal unconscious. It is within the shadow that we carry our rejected aspects of the self. These rejected aspects are inclusive of feelings, beliefs, aspirations, and behaviors that have been deemed unfavorable or unacceptable. Though cast aside, unconscious parts of the self still often surface in repeating patterns of destruction and sabotage. In this course, we will explore the individual shadow - its operation and limiting quality - to gain familiarity with how it erupts in relationships, how it narrows our possibilities, and often leaves us feeling disconnected and disillusioned. With shadow-work, we can learn to identify the eruptions of the shadow, work with instead of against emotions, release guilt and shame, recognize our projections onto others, and hold genuine self-acceptance. Philosophy & Psychology of YogA
Course Dates: October 28 & 29, 2023
We are exposed to many modalities of self-assessment, self-reflection, and personal development. This course focuses specifically on the modality of yoga with an overlaying complement of depth psychology, a purposeful field of study that surveys unconscious space. The pairing both deepens the discussion and offers common themes across modalities. Within the practice of yoga, this course is intimately focused on the first and second limbs of yoga, the Yamas & Niyamas. The journey through the yamas and niyamas is both a philosophical and psychological journey. This course will delve into mindset, radical self-assessment, discussion around 'the work', while utilizing the philosophical structures to guide the self along the path of individuation. The Koshas: the Layers of the Being
Course Date: Sunday, November 19th
The five sheaths, or layers, of the being include the physical body, life force, the mind, understanding, and the absolute layer of bliss. The koshas, or sheaths in yogic philosophy, serve as an inside out process to self-awareness and establishment of system vitality. To understand the self is to build valuable relationship - these layers speak - these layers operate in unison. The body is not an isolated vessel, nor is the mind. The processes and layers are inseparable and system dependent. This course tunes attention to working with the layers of the being with great intention. Re-integrate the systems of the self while reviving system vitality. COURSE FOCUS AREAS
