The Offering
Yoga has a beautiful way of nourishing the physical body, calming the mind, and enlivening the soul. Not only is yoga a 'work-out' but it is also a 'work-in'. As we build strength and stability within our framework, the inward experience also begins to shift. Can you feel it?
Within an 8-limbed practice, movement becomes means of celebration and exploring our edges of discomfort, while stillness serves as means to acquaint and illuminate the light within. This ebb and flow of yin and yang, strength and softness, is an ongoing practice and process of discovery.
Roll out your mat and come as you are. All are welcome here.

The Heat
Latitude 44 Yoga Studio is heated with state-of-the-art infrared heat panels which offer endless benefits including detoxification and therapeutic healing properties through increased circulation and relaxation.
Radiant, infrared, heat feels much different than forced air as it heats your body as opposed to the air around you. This makes it much easier to breath. The heat is not heavy. It is pure heat without the weight. If you struggle in wet or dry saunas and therefore steer away from hot yoga, give infrared heat a try!

The Space
Latitude 44 Yoga Studio has two studio spaces - one heated with infrared heat panels (90-92°) and one maintained at an average room temperature (70-72°). Both rooms feature beautiful stained glass windows, which create a blissful ambiance for your practice. Spaces are always clean and organized, supporting your practice in saucha and mental decompression. We have intentionally selected to leave both spaces free from mirrors to assist you in guiding your practice inward. Feeling your practice versus watching your practice is a widely supported method for interoceptive and proprioceptive development (aka. making your practice tremendously more impactful).
The Start
After tragedy struck in April of 2014, Amy was drawn closer to her yoga practice. With the desire (and newly realized need) to practice daily, Amy saw we had an opportunity in the Eau Claire community as we did not have any full-time yoga studios. Hopping from gym to cross-fit studio back to the gym to fulfill her needs just wasn't going to cut it. The vision of Latitude 44 Yoga Studio is to offer a full class schedule, an array of class options, and a supporting yoga community regardless of your background or the reasons you're joining us for class.
Established in 2015, Latitude 44 Yoga Studio was founded by Amy Erickson. Amy is certified through the Yandara Yoga Institute in Baja California Sur, Mexico (E-RYT500), 8 Limbs Yoga Centers in Seattle, Washington (Prenatal Yoga - RPYT), Devanadi School of Yoga and Wellness in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Barre Bliss in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She also holds a Bachelors in Business Management, Masters in Business Administration, and a Masters in Psychology. Amy is also a student at Pacifica Graduate Institute, completing a PhD in Psychology. In August of 2015, Amy had the honor of being awarded the Jump-Start grant (and the 1st Jim Mishefske award) for her business plan submission to Downtown Eau Claire. Thank you to to Downtown Eau Claire, Inc. for believing in us and thank you to our fellow downtown businesses for your support and contribution! |
The Name
Latitude 44 is the (rounded) latitude of Eau Claire, Wisconsin - our home! The idea for our name was acquired on an unforgettable trip to Australia. A quaint restaurant named Latitude 30 in Coffs Harbour, New South Wales drew attention for more than one reason (the delicious food being one!) while ringing in the New Year (2015). "Latitude" was added to the ever-growing list of potential names for the upcoming venture and was later selected as 'the one'!
