Why Journal? Among other benefits, journaling is helpful in cognitive processing, boosts the memory, and assists in relieving stress and promoting emotional health.

Journaling: 10 Prompts to Get the Pen Moving 

Whether journaling is new or you are feeling uninspired, here are a few idea
​generators to add some fuel to your journaling and movement to your pen.

1. How did you spend your time today, or how will you spend your time today?

Consider including reflections on these activities.  Are they enjoyable, mundane, unfulfilling?

2. What are your greatest fears and anxieties today?

Also write down activities or ways that help you feel more relaxed and calm.

3. Write down two things you are newly grateful for.

Describe how these two things make you feel.

4. What are your hopes for the future?

Why does this excite you?  What steps will you take towards this goal?

5. Write a letter to one of your parents.

You do not need to give it to them, but perhaps you do.

6. Write a letter to the future you.

What is in your current reality and what advice would you give?  What hopes and dreams do you have for future you?

7. Write a list of five things you want to remember when you are feeling sad.

Recall this list during times when you are feeling you need a little boost.

8. Describe a perfect day.

Who? What? Where? When?

9. What are three things that make you angry?

Why do these things anger you?  What is the first 'relationship' you can remember with these things/experiences?

10. Write about the worst thing you feel you have ever done.
