5 Step Gluten Free Apple and Pear Crisp

This delicious apple and pear crisp is the perfect warm and tasty treat for Thanksgiving. It is also easily modifiable! Feel free to cut sugar or butter, add more fruit, or depending on your preference use only apples or only pears. Be creative! Not much can go wrong when all of these yummy ingredients come together.

You will need…..

For the fruit mixture:
  • 4 gala apples, cored and sliced (peel on)
  • 3 Pears, cored and sliced (peel on)
  • 1 ½  Tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon

For the oat topping:
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup old fashioned oats (gluten free)
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, diced into small cubes
  • pinch of salt

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Butter or spray an 8x8 pan.
(A 9x9 or 8x9 pan works fine too!)

Step 2: Cut up apples and pears discarding the cores. Leave the peels on. This is where most nutrients are at AND it gives the crisp a nice color too!

Add the fruit to your baking dish and sprinkle with 1 ½ tbsp brown sugar and 2 tsp cinnamon. Stir together to evenly coat.

Step 3: Make an oat topping by adding butter cubes, oats, and brown sugar in a large glass bowl. Cut butter in with a fork until the chunks are about the size of small peas. If you are a cinnamon lover, feel free to add 1 tsp of cinnamon to the topping mixture as well!

Step 4: Pour the oat mixture over the fruit and pat down to even out the top.
*Cinnamon lovers, sprinkle the crisp lightly with cinnamon.

Step 5: Bake at 350 for about 40-50 minutes and enjoy!
